Plains of Castelluccio Hiking Tour

At the appointed time we'll meet in front of the Il Sentiero Del Lupo Farm to begin this hiking route through the plain of Castelluccio. You'll fall in love with the scenery of the Umbrian Apennines and the Marche

Once there, we'll leave the village behind and start walking along a path through the vast plateau of Castelluccio di Norcia. Did you know that this plain occupies the bottom of what used to be an ancient lake? As well as enjoying the scenery you'll learn lots of interesting facts about this stunning region.

As we go up, we'll see how the plain is divided into three piani or plans at an altitude of 4429 feet (1350 meters) and along 9 miles (15 kilometres). We'll also enjoy the breathtaking views of the Sibillini Mountains - welcome to the green heart of Italy

We'll follow the hiking trail exploring the path that climbs westward from Pian Grande and, after crossing a beech forest, we'll reach the summit of Monte Rose, located at no less than 6105 feet (1861 meters) of altitude!

At the end of the activity, we'll also stop at a nearby inn to taste some of the most typical dishes of the region - perfect to regain strength!

We'll finish the hiking route three hours later at the starting point.
