We'll pick you up from your hotel in Cluj and head towards the Turda Salt Mine, one of the great tourist attractions of the Transylvania region. Why is it so famous? We'll find out!
In just 40 minutes, we'll reach this salt mine located in the Romanian city of Turda. Once there, we'll enter a large natural museum where everything around us is made of salt. We'll enter this space that served as an air-raid shelter during the Second World War and that has been converted into a museum with a unique amusement park inside.
On this tour, we'll take you through the different tunnels that make up the salt mines. We'll walk along over 45 km² (17 mi²) of passageways and marvel at the enormous spaces, as vast as medieval cathedrals. We'll walk through the 19th century Franz Josef Gallery and the octagonal Crivac room that stores the salt mine machinery.
But the most curious part of the tour of the Salina Turda is undoubtedly the Rudolf Mine. There, we'll find a curious amusement park in a completely magical setting.
At the end of the visit, you'll have 30 minutes of free time to continue exploring the Turda Salt Mine at your own pace. You can visit the spectacular 120 m (393 ft) wide lake and take a boat ride on it, or have fun in the mine's amusement park.
Finally, we'll meet again and head back to Cluj, where we'll say goodbye at the meeting point after a total of 4 hours.
Turda Salt Mine Amusement Park
Inside the Turda Salt Mine, there is an amusement park and a lake. During the 30 minutes of free time you have, you can enjoy these activities. Access to the attractions is not included in the tour and must be paid for at the ticket office.
You can ride the futuristic Ferris wheel, try your hand at mini-golf, attempt to knock down the pins in the bowling alley and challenge each other to a ping-pong duel.
At the Terezia Mine, you can also hire a boat and paddle around the impressive lake.
