Would you like to take a trip back in time millions of years? On this dinosaur route through Colunga we'll follow the tracks of these prehistoric animals that inhabited this area of Asturias.

Colunga Dinosaur Hiking Tour

At the appointed time we'll meet at the beach of La Isla. There we'll start a route that will lead us to discover the footprints that dinosaurs left in Colunga millions of years ago. 

From the shore, we'll start a 3-kilometre (1.8 miles) walk along the paths of the cliffs in the area. On this walking route we'll be able to enjoy the stupendous panoramic view of the eastern coast of Asturias, as well as the Sierra del Sueve. 

After completing the trail, we'll ascend Villedas mountain through a eucalyptus forest, and we'll go back down to the coast to approach one of the fossil sites in Colunga. As we observe the fossilised footprints, we'll tell you about the species of dinosaurs that could be found in the area - a real journey back in time!

We'll take the route back to the beach of La Griega. Did you know that some of the largest dinosaur footprints in the world can be found at the site of this beach? Furthermore, from this location you can see the picturesque village of Lastres.

We'll finish the last 5 kilometres (3.1 miles) heading inland, passing through villages and meadows full of vegetation. After three and a half hours, we'll finish the route at the starting point.
