Tour Details

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Enghave Plads Metro Station. From this central point, we'll kick off this free tour of the Carlsberg District in Copenhagen.

First, we'll head to Enghaveparken, a relaxing green space that offers a quiet contrast to the city. As we stroll through the park, we'll find its beautiful rose garden. Here, we'll begin unravelling the story of how Copenhagen's most famous brewery helped shape an entire neighbourhood.

Then, we'll walk to Købkes Square, where the unique brickwork of the district tells its own story. We'll discover how Carlsberg's identity was built, literally, on bricks, and how they became central to its visual legacy. From there, we'll make our way to Bindesbøll Square, a spot that reflects the fusion of tradition and innovation that defines the Carlsberg District. Along the way, our guide will tell us how this area evolved from an industrial powerhouse into a cutting-edge urban project.

We'll continue to the Grey House, where Carlsberg's commitment to science and progress really took off. We'll learn how this building played a key role in shaping modern brewing techniques and scientific discovery.

Afterwards, we'll reach Carl Jacobsen's House and Ottilia Square, where personal ambition and family tension intertwine. We'll hear the captivating tale of Carl and his father, J.C. Jacobsen, whose intense rivalry shaped not only their legacy but also Copenhagen itself. You'll be surprised!

We'll then admire Hotel Ottilia and Brewer's Square, an area that reflects how Carlsberg's legacy has been transformed into a stylish and award-winning urban destination. We'll also see Pasteur's Tower and the Scientist Houses, a tribute to the groundbreaking research that took place here and the people who made it possible. As we pass, our guide will tell us stories of smuggled beer, revolutionary science, and more!

Then we'll make our way to the Hanging Gardens, a section of the famous J. C. Jacobsen Garden, a stunning example of green innovation and vertical design. As we walk through the garden, we'll discover how sustainability has been woven into the modern Carlsberg aesthetic.

Lastly, we'll arrive at Carlsberg Metro Station, where we'll bring this 2.5-hour free tour to an end. Until next time!
