Activity Details

At the indicated time, we’ll meet at the iconic Theaterplatz to begin this journey through time and uncover the secrets of hidden Dresden.

First, we’ll stop in front of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, where we’ll tell you the story of priest Alois Andritzki, arrested by the Nazi regime and sent to the Dachau concentration camp. Then, we’ll admire the Stolpersteine, small monuments that pay tribute to the victims of Nazism.

Next, we’ll stroll along Brühl’s Terrace and see the Academy of Fine Arts, places that will help us analyze how art and sculpture have shaped the city’s identity over the centuries. From there, we’ll head toward the area of the New Synagogue to understand the impact of the void left by the loss of the local Jewish community.

We’ll continue the journey into the past by passing in front of the former Nazi police headquarters and talking about the era of the German Democratic Republic. You’ll discover how socialism reimagined Dresden’s urban planning after its total destruction in 1945. At the New Town Hall, you’ll see the monument to the Trümmerfrau and the Church of the Holy Cross.

In addition, during our tour of Dresden, we’ll make a short stop at the Camondas Chocolate Museum for a small tasting. It may be artisanal ice cream in summer or a comforting hot chocolate in winter.

Finally, we’ll end this 2.5 to 3-hour tour at Altmarkt, where destruction and renewal come together in one of Germany’s most historic squares.
