Silver Ring Workshop in Dublin
Activity Details
At the indicated time, make your way to the workshop of your choice. Excited to craft your very own ring?
After meeting the instructor, you'll get stuck into creating your very own ring! During this hands-on session, you'll be guided through traditional jewellery-making techniques as you create a sterling silver ring from scratch. You'll begin by marking the silver to the length you need, depending on which finger you'd like your ring to fit.
To make the experience even more special, you'll be able to sip on a tea or coffee, and enjoy some chocolate.
With a handsaw, you'll cut it to size before shaping it around a mandrel using a mallet. Under the instructor's expert guidance, you'll see how the ring is carefully soldered.
Once the basic shape is complete, it will be time to refine your piece. You'll smooth and file the silver with different hand files, deciding on the curve and finish that best suits your style. It may sound like a small detail, but it makes a big difference to the final look!
Next comes the fun part: choosing the texture. You'll choose from three distinctive finishes and use a planishing hammer to bring your chosen design to life.
To complete your masterpiece, you'll select a polish to give your ring its perfect shine. After a total of 2 hours, you'll finish up and you'll get to take your ring home. Slán!
