Discover two of Albania's natural gems on this hiking route in the Erzen River Canyon and the Cave of Pëllumbas. Plus, you'll visit the stunning Petrelë Castle!

Itinerario

At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel and leave Dürres behind to discover three of Albania's prettiest places: the Erzen River Canyon, the Cave of Pëllumbas, and the Petrelë Castle. Ready?

First, we'll head to the Erzen River Canyon, a paradise for nature lovers. Upon arrival, your breath will be taken away by the beauty of the mountains, the flowing Erzen River, and the picturesque landscapes that define this Albanian gem.

From here, we'll begin a hiking route toward the heart of the canyon, where we'll find the Cave of Pëllumbas. This cave, with a history dating back 40000 years, was a refuge for wild bears. In time, it became a habitat for humans during the Middle Paleolithic. In recent history, during the First and Second World Wars, it served as a hiding place for the inhabitants of surrounding towns.

We'll descend down a drop of almost 600 meters (1968 feet) as we venture into the cave, which is about 360 meters deep (1181 feet), and inside, you'll find stunning stalagmites and stalactites. After visiting this cave, we'll return to the starting point to continue our journey toward Petrelë, where you'll experience the charm of Albanian rural life

Before strolling along the streets of this picturesque town, you'll have 1 hour to have lunch. Afterward, we'll climb up to Petrelë Castle, perched atop a hill overlooking the landscapes. This century-old fortress played a crucial role in the local history. We'll explore its murals and towers to learn about its past.

Finally, we'll return to the starting point in  Dürres, where we'll arrive after a total of 8 hours.
