Berat & Belshi Lake Day Trip
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Durrës and we'll begin our day trip to Berat and Belshi Lake. Are you ready to dive into the history of Albania?
First, we'll discover Belshi Lake, a natural wonder that has become a popular site for locals and tourists alike due to its tranquility and space for outdoor activities. Here, we'll stop for about 40 minutes to rest after our 1.5-hour journey from Durrës. Don't forget to take a picture!
Afterward, we'll walk toward Berat, also known as the "city of a thousand windows." Once we arrive, you'll understand why it has this nickname. We'll cross the Gorica Bridge, connecting Mangalem and Gorica, two of the oldest neighborhoods in the historic center, over the Osum River.
As we stroll along the streets of Mangalem, we'll reach Berat Castle, where we'll embark on a guided tour. We'll learn about the history of the Illyrians, Romans, Byzantines, and Ottomans who have inhabited this site over the centuries, leaving their marks within the fortress.
After finishing our tour of the castle, you'll have 1 hour of free time to have lunch and try a dish of delicious Albanian cuisine. After lunch, we'll discover another must-see site in Berat, the Bachelors' Mosque, a Cultural Monument in the city since 1961.
Finally, we'll begin our journey back to the starting point, where we'll arrive after a total of 8.5 hours.
