Krujë & Lake Bovilla Day Trip

  • 1 review | 19 travellers
The trip was pleasant and interesting, and the guide, Mario, was very friendly. I'd only consider two things: 1. The description says the tour lasts 8 hours; in reality, it's more than 12 hours, starting from Durres, because a taxi picks you up, brings you to Tirana, and the return is the same. 2. The entire tour was in Italian, with a bit of English; the description says it was in Spanish, but that wasn't the case. Consider these two factors.

Day Trip Details

At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel and leave Dürres behind to begin this unforgettable day trip to Krujë and Lake Bovilla. Let's go!

First, we'll discover Lake Bovilla, which is part of the Dajti National Park. At this site, you'll have two options: embark on a 30-minute hike to the top of Gamti Mountain, where you'll enjoy the impressive views of the surrounding cliffs, or explore this majestic site on the lake's shores at your own pace. You decide!

1 hour later, we'll continue our tour by heading to Krujë. Nestled on the rocky slopes of Sari Salltik Mountain, at 1837 feet (560 meters) above sea level, this historic town is a true symbol of Albanian resistance. Before exploring its streets, you'll have 1 hour of free time to grab a bite for lunch.

After lunch, we'll visit the Skanderbeg Museum, where you'll discover the Albanian national hero Skanderbeg and the most important moments of his life. Afterward, we'll climb up to the Fortress of Krujë, built in the 5th century A.C. As we stroll through its halls, you'll hear history echoing through its walls.

To end the day trip on a high note, we'll explore the Old Bazaar of Krujë, one of the largest and oldest bazaars in the Balkans. With many types of traditional handmade items, such as rugs and jewels, this site is one of the best places to buy souvenirs.

Finally, we'll return to the starting point, where we'll say our goodbyes after a total of 8 hours.
