5-Day Alexandria & Siwa Desert Tour
Tour Details
Day 1: Cairo - Alexandria
At 5:30 pm, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Cairo, the airport, or the train station, whichever you prefer. Are you ready to visit the birthplace of ancient civilization?
After 2.5 hours of traveling, we'll reach our destination. We'll go on a guided tour of Alexandria to discover the famous Great Library of Alexandria, a modern building that serves to remember the tragedy that took place here during the time of Julius Caesar. We'll tell you how the most prestigious book collection in history turned into ashes.
We'll have lunch at a local restaurant, and afterward, we'll visit the catacombs of Kom El Shogafa, the largest necropolis during the Greco-Roman period. You'll also see the archaeological ruins of Serapeum. Did you know this temple was erected to honor the God of Greece and Egypt? We'll tell you all about it! Finally, we'll take you to the hotel in Alexandria, where you can have dinner and rest for the next day.
Day 2: Alexandria - El Alamein - Marsa Matrouh - Siwa
Good morning! We'll enjoy a tasty breakfast and leave Alexandria behind to visit El Alamein. Here, we'll enter the El Alamein War Museum, where you'll travel back to the year 1942 to discover the virulent battles that took place on this land. We'll also visit a cemetery located in the middle of the desert, where over 7000 fallen Commonwealth soldiers from those battles rest.
Our trip will continue toward the port city of Marsa Matrouh, where we'll stop for lunch. We'll visit Rommel's Cave, where the popularly known Desert Fox planned the Nazi attacks against the Allies during the Great War. Then, you'll have free time to enjoy the beaches of Marsa Matrouh. Did you know that Cleopatra herself swam in these coasts?
We'll finish the second day by arriving at the hotel in Siwa for dinner.
Day 3: Siwa
Are you ready to enjoy an off-roading tour of the Siwa Oasis? Once we've had breakfast, we'll begin this fun adventure through the dunes of this great sea of sand. Along the way, we'll explain why there are countless marine fossils on this land, tell you about the underground freshwater fountains, and reach Bir Wahid, a lake in the heart of the desert. It'll be fascinating!
Our day will conclude with a delicious dinner at the hotel in Siwa.
Day 4: Siwa
We'll have breakfast and head to the famous Siwa Oasis, a paradisiac place that will pleasantly surprise you. Afterward, you'll discover the Amon Temple, an ancient place of worship that was even visited by Alexander the Great. Our tour will continue by visiting the Gebel Al Mawta, a labyrinth of tombs carved in stone that belonged to one of the last dynasties of Ancient Egypt.
Then, we'll take you to Cleopatra's Pool so you can cool off with a nice dip in this stone pool in the middle of the desert. Here, we'll have lunch before we start our journey to Fatnis Island, also known as Fantasy Island, where a beautiful sunset awaits.
We'll enjoy dinner in the center of Siwa, at the foot of the Berber Shali Fortress, and take you back to the hotel.
Day 5: Siwa - Cairo
