The Cathedral of Granada is one of Andalusia’s most iconic monuments and among the first Renaissance-style cathedrals in Spain. Famous for its majestic architecture and rich history, it stands as a symbol of the city’s power and prestige following the Christian conquest and the fall of the Nasrid Kingdom in 1492.

A Bit of History

Construction began in the 16th century on the site of Granada’s former Great Mosque. Initially designed in the Gothic style, it soon took on Renaissance forms under the direction of Diego de Siloé. Inside, the grand altar, side chapels, and colorful stained-glass windows flooding the nave with light create a truly spectacular sight.
