Day Trip to a Cocoa Farm
Day Trip to a Cocoa Farm
Between 8 and 8:40 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Ilhéus to start the Chocolate Route. On board the minibus we'll explore this road that connects the cocoa-producing farms to this town.
As we cross the Atlantic Forest, full of cocoa plantations, we'll discover why this crop is so famous in this area. Did you know that the chocolate produced here has won awards in Europe? Some of the chocolate companies have been around for more than 250 years.
We'll make a stop at a hacienda to walk through its grounds. We'll see what the daily work is like among the cocoa trees and learn a lot of details about the cultivation and harvesting. In addition, we'll discover what other products can be made with cocoa beyond the typical chocolate bar.
Of course, we couldn't leave without tasting delicious homemade chocolate made on the farm - yum! Also, if you want, you can buy many other sweets as a souvenir.
We'll finish the activity leaving you at your hotel at 1 pm.
