Itaya River Piranha Fishing
Activity Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the meeting point in Iquitos and begin a 20-minute walk toward the upper part of the Mercado Belén. This route will take us toward the docking area, where we'll board a typical Amazonian canoe.
We'll sail for half an hour along the Itaya River, a tributary of the Amazon whose calm waters will take us to a strategic area where piranhas are abundant. The jungle landscape that surrounds us will make the journey as special as the destination.
Once at the fishing spot, we'll show you the ancestral techniques that have been passed down for generations. With patience and a bit of skill, you'll feel the adrenaline of casting the hook, waiting for the pull, and fishing your own piranha. It'll be an exciting moment!
With hook and rod in hand, you'll have the chance of catching the piranhas in a safe and controlled area. This experience combines adventure, adrenaline, and culture—not only will you learn how to fish, but you'll also learn about the significance of this native fish of the Amazon and its role in the ecosystem.
After 3 hours in nature, we'll return to the dock while we enjoy the calmness of the jungle. Finally, we'll take you back to the starting point, where we'll say our goodbyes after a total of 4 hours.
