South Amazonia 4-day Trip with Bird Spotting
South Amazonia 4-day Trip with Bird Spotting
Day 1
At 9:15 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Iquitos in a minibus before heading to the port of the city. Once there, we'll take a boat for a trip through the Amazon to the lodge.
When we disembark, we'll leave our belongings in the cabins and have a delicious meal. Later, we'll take a walk to identify the different types of plants that the birds look for. Then it's time to relax and enjoy a tasty dinner while listening to beautiful sounds of nature that surround us.
Day 2
We'll wake up before dawn to discover a unique species: the Crax Globulosa, an endangered bird whose black plumage contrasts with the orange and reddish beak.
Then we head back to the camp for lunch before taking a boat ride on the Yanayacu River and later watching the sun go down over an idyllic lagoon. Then we'll have dinner and end the day by going into the jungle to meet other night birds.
Day 3
We'll taste a succulent breakfast and, if the water level allows it, we set off on a very special trip. We'll go deep into the southern Peruvian Amazon to see monkeys, majestic butterflies, insects, and different birds. Watch out because the anaconda also roams these parts!
We'll have lunch and continue on our adventure in the Corrientillo lagoon where we'll admire more tropical birds. After dinner, another fantastic night walk awaits us.
Day 4
In the early morning, we'll leave the camp to sail to the Amazon islands, where we'll encounter endemic birds. We'll have breakfast onboard the boat while we observe the species of the high jungle, where the extraordinary pink dolphin and the Victoria Regia plant live!
And after lunch, we'll set off for Iquitos, where we'll arrive at approximately 4 pm.
Accommodation
This tour includes 3 nights full board accommodation in a double room at Muyuna Amazon Lodge. The cabins at the camp have private bathrooms and a terrace with hammocks facing the river.
Flight schedule
If your flight schedule does not fit with the timetable indicated, we can adapt the timetable to pick you up on arrival by adding a supplement for a late pickup. It's advised to travel with sunlight to see the river, so the maximum departure time would be 3 pm.
