Free Tour of Soviet Kiev
Free Tour of Soviet Kiev
Having met up at 3 pm at the Founders of Kiev Monument in Independence Square, we'll embark on our free walking tour of the Ukrainian capital in search of the places that have witnessed the country's most impactful historic events of the past century.
We'll make stops outside some of Kiev's most emblematic monuments, including the Ukraine National Bank, the Cabinet of Ministers and the People's Friendship Arch. Our guide will reveal fascinating facts about the symbolism behind the landmarks we visit as we admire their architecture.
Continuing on our free walking tour, we'll next head to the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, the second largest sports complex in Eastern Europe, built for the 1980 Summer Olympics in the Soviet Union. We'll admire the façade of this enormous building before heading to our next stop, the Verkhovna Rada, or Parliament of Ukraine, one of the most impressive buildings in the capital.
Our tour of Soviet Kiev will also take us to visit the famous Mariyinsky Palace and the Ivan Franko National Theatre, considered one of the most beautiful theatres in Europe. We will then make our way to Khreshchatyk, the main street in Kiev, where our tour will come to an end at 5 pm, leaving you to visit the shops or enjoy a drink in one of the excellent cafes nearby.
