Tour Details

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Brixton Underground Station, the perfect place to begin this free tour of one of the most multicultural neighbourhoods in south London.

The British capital's great cultural diversity is well known to all. However, this goes much further in Brixton. To begin with, we'll take a look at one of the great attractions of this London neighbourhood, the huge graffiti mural in honour of David Bowie. Did you know that the pop star was born in Brixton?

Next, we'll begin walking through the streets of Brixton while we tell you how this district has evolved over the years from an area with a bad reputation to a centre of social, artistic and commercial activity in London. To do this, we'll stop at Pop Brixton, the container market, and admire the exterior of the Brixton House theatre.

Nearby, we'll find Brixton Market. This huge open-air market has countless stalls selling everything from fish and fresh fruit to music and objects from all over the world. It's a perfect reflection of Brixton's cultural mix!

Next, we'll pass by the Nuclear Dawn mural, a huge painting created during the Cold War that reflects the anti-war sentiment of Londoners. We'll also walk down Electric Avenue, the first street to be lit by electric lights. This pioneering avenue will take us to Windrush Square, the centre of life for Brixton's residents.

As we continue to learn how Brixton has been the scene of important social and political movements, we'll witness its musical and artistic role as we pass by iconic concert venues such as Electric Brixton.

Finally, we'll say our goodbyes and bring this free walking tour to an end after a total of 2 hours.
