On this tour of Macapá, we'll visit the main tourist attractions of the capital of the Brazilian state of Amapá and learn about its history and culture. Not to be missed!

Description

We'll pick you up from your hotel at the indicated time and board a vehicle to start this tour of Macapá. Are you ready to see the most emblematic sights of the capital of Amapá? Let's go!

Our first stop will be at the Fortaleza de São José de Macapá, strategically built at the mouth of the Amazon between 1764 and 1782 to protect the region from invaders. We'll see its cannons and the buildings that housed the warehouses, the chapel, the officers' house, the fort, the ammunition and the hospital. You'll be impressed!

Next, we'll head to the Casa do Artesão, where we'll find items made from wood, seeds, ceramics and other materials. It's the perfect place to buy a souvenir! This place also has a restaurant where they serve meals with the best of the northern cuisine.

The next stop is the church of São José, the oldest monument in Macapá. It was inaugurated in 1671, thanks to the efforts of Fray Miguel de Bulhões. The church still preserves its neoclassical style, a legacy of the European Jesuits. It's impossible not to fall in love with it!

Our tour of Macapá will continue at the Sacaca Museum, an open-air space of 20,000 square metres that depicts the history of Amapá. Here we'll learn about the culture and traditions of the Amazonian villages thanks to recreations of the daily life of the indigenous people.

Finally, we'll go to the Marco Zero do Ecuador monument, built on the imaginary line that divides the Earth into two hemispheres. This point has a 30-metre-high pillar with a circular opening at the top that is illuminated by the sun in March and September, the months that mark the equinox.

After four hours of visiting Macapa, we'll take you back to your hotel.
