Manizales Birdwatching & Flower Tour
Tour Details
We'll meet at the indicated time at the Hotel Reserva Natural Bosques de la Pradera, a rural accommodation on the outskirts of Manizales.
After a brief introduction to the moderate-level hike we're going to take, during which we'll make stops to enjoy the surroundings, we'll first head to the reserve's birdwatching spot. There, we'll refuel with a drink of your choice: coffee, lemonade, an aromatic Colombian drink or mineral water.
From this point, we'll be able to observe different birds of the Coffee Region. To date, 203 species of birds and approximately 365 species of butterflies have been identified in the reserve. Incredible, right? We'll help you identify the specimens, taking into account various factors. You'll become ornithologists for a day!
Next, we'll tour the gardens, greenhouses and surrounding trails, and we'll also head to the El Bohío stream. In all these areas, we'll try to identify different specimens of local flora.
This area is one of great biodiversity, where more than 1,000 varieties of cactus and nearly 850 species of orchids have been catalogued. Did you know that Colombia is the country with the greatest diversity of these flowers in the world? There are 4,270 registered species!
Thanks to more than 20 years of cultivation, along the walk, we'll see orchids from Colombia and other countries around the world. We'll discover the colours, shapes and stories behind each of these flowers.
Finally, after a total of 3 hours, we'll finish the tour by returning to the meeting point.
