Atlas Mountains 2-Day Hike

  • 2 reviews | 5 travellers
A wonderful experience. A special thank you to our guide, Omar, who knows these incredible mountains very well. He always guided us at a perfect pace and was attentive to our every need. I can't forget our cook, Omar, who gave us fantastic food, with wonderful salads and tagines. We're left wanting more. We'll come back.

2-Day Hike Details

Day 1

Ready to explore one of the most beautiful natural areas in Morocco? Pack your hiking shoes and sticks and let's go! At the designated time, we'll meet at the entrance of Hotel Islane, in Marrakech, to set off to Imlil.

During the journey, we'll cross the small Moroccan towns of Tahanaout, Oued Ghighaya, and Asni, enjoying a first glimpse of what awaits us in the Atlas Mountains. Once we reach Imlil, 40 miles (65 kilometers) from Marrakech, we'll begin our hiking route. The adventure starts!

We'll start our hike toward the Tizi Mzik trail, in the Toubkal National Park. As we ascend to an altitude of 8,805 feet (2,684 meters), you'll see the spectacular scenic views of the mountains, as well as the different Berber towns that we'll see along the way.

Halfway through the route, we'll stop to admire the Tamsoult Waterfall, the mountain's largest waterfalls. They're 328 feet (100 meters) tall! After enjoying this natural spectacle, we'll have a local lunch and continue our hiking route to the town of Tizi Oussem.

In this small town in the Atlas Mountains, we'll stay at a mountain lodge where you can have dinner and rest for the next day.

Day 2

After breakfast, we'll start our second day of hiking to continue discovering the beauty of the Atlas Mountains. We'll walk toward Id Issa, a small town filled with history standing at an altitude of 5,905 feet (1,800 meters).

Then, we'll continue climbing to reach the Tizi Oudid trail, at 6,561 feet (2,000 meters) tall. Can you imagine the views from here? Your breath will be taken away! We'll continue hiking to discover Matat, a beautiful forest where you can rest after the ascent.

In this paradisiac site, we'll stop to enjoy a picnic-style lunch and rest. After lunch, we'll continue our route until we reach the minibus that will take us back to Marrakech.

Our adventure will end at the meeting point around 6 pm.
