    This was by far the best tour I did from Marrakesh. The guide Omar was knowledgeable and went out of his way to explain everything about his culture. The trip was varied, and included a delicious lunch with his family overlooking the snow-topped High Atlas Mountains. I couldn’t fault any part of the trip and would 100% recommend

    This excursion offers an up-close and authentic view of the Atlas Mountains. Hamid, our guide, was excellent, friendly, and very professional. It's one of the best excursions we've ever done because it's a departure from the usual shopping trips. The food is fantastic and surprisingly delicious. We highly recommend this excursion and are delighted with Hamid's hospitality.

Stretching across Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, the Atlas Mountains form one of North Africa’s most striking natural regions. Snow-capped peaks, deep valleys and traditional Berber villages define this vast mountain range.

Background and geography

The Atlas Mountains extend for roughly 1,600 miles (2,500 kilometers), separating the Mediterranean and Atlantic coastlines from the Sahara Desert. The range includes several subregions, such as the High Atlas, home to Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa at 13,671 feet (4,167 meters). For centuries, the mountains have shaped trade routes, settlement patterns and local cultures.
