Uxmal & Choco-Story Museum Tour

  • 3 reviews | 28 travellers
After 3 cancellations of other excursions due to lack of participants, this one was made exclusively for me, private driver and guide. This demonstrates the professionalism of some agencies compared to others, something that Civitatis does not control and should do, which prioritizes the client. It has been an extraordinary day, knowledge, kindness, courtesy and know-how.

Tour Details

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Merida or at the meeting point you choose when booking and drive south to Uxmal, one of the main Mayan archaeological sites in the Yucatan Peninsula.

Once at this archaeological complex, declared a World Heritage Site, we'll start our guided tour of the entire monumental complex. One of its major highlights is the colossal Pyramid of the Soothsayer. Wondering why it's called that? Well, we'll find out on the day of the tour!

The tour will continue by visiting other important vestiges of the site such as the Quadrangle of the Nuns or the Governor's Palace. We'll also visit the ancient ball game field to discover what this pre-Columbian sport was all about.

After learning more about Uxmal, the tour will continue to the Choco-Story Museum. Its interactive exhibition will allow us to delve into the history of cocoa and the different products made from this delicious product. The museum's collection is arranged in six rooms shaped like traditional Mayan houses, and in each of them, we'll discover interesting chocolate-related facts.

Finally, we'll start the journey back to the departure point, where we'll say our goodbyes after between 7 and 8 hours.

Tour Options

During the booking process, you can choose between the following options:

  • Tour With Hotel Pickup + With Tickets + Lunch: this option includes pickup at your hotel in Mérida and tickets to Uxmal and the Choco-Story Museum. In addition, before returning, we'll stop at a restaurant to enjoy a typical Yucatecan lunch.
  • Tour Without Hotel Pickup + Without Tickets + Without Lunch: if you prefer a more affordable option, this option includes pickup at one of the following meeting points in Merida: Paseo Montejo 465 or Calle 3 No. 218. When booking, you can indicate which of the two points you prefer. This option does not include admission to Uxmal and the Choco-Story Museum, which costs a total of US$ 37.50 for adults and US$ 12 for children under 18. Lunch is also not included, so we suggest you bring something to eat. In this case, after visiting the museum, we'll return directly to the starting point.
