Mussomeli Monuments Tour
Mussomeli Monuments Tour
At the appointed time, we'll meet at the Piazzale Castello Manfredonico to start exploring one of the most characteristic monuments of Mussomeli.
Before entering the Manfredonico Castle, we'll pause to admire its impressive façade and learn about this building's historical importance. This castle was actually built in the 14th century by order of a descendant of Charlemagne. We'll learn all about Manfredi III Chiaramonte and his important power on the island of Sicily.
Then, we'll enter the interior of the monument to visit its armoury, throne room, bedroom and its chapel. We'll take a look at the exquisite decoration of the building and talk about its hidden and mysterious traps.
Once we've seen the Manfredonico castle, we'll walk to the centre of Mussomeli for a guided tour of other important historical monuments.
We'll make our way to the church of San Ludovico or Chiesa Madre, built at the request of Manfredi III. After visiting its inside, we'll see the façade of the Clock Tower, explore Palazzo Trabia and also explore Palazzo Sgadari, a building that once served as a prison and is now the seat of the archaeological museum of Mussomeli.
After a four-hour tour, we'll end the guided tour by bidding farewell to the Palazzo Sgadari
