Heritage Museum of The Bahamas Guided Visit
Discover the history of the Bahamas
After meeting at the entrance to the Heritage Museum of the Bahamas at the indicated time, we'll begin our guided tour of the museum. Over the course of the next 45 minutes, we'll journey through time, discovering the history and heritage of the Bahamas along the way!
Housed within the iconic Mountbatten House, the Heritage Museum of The Bahamas features a display comprised mostly of items from Mr Hamilton White, an illustrious British collector of antiquities. Among the many treasures on display is a 4.5 billion-year-old piece of meteorite.
Our guided tour will bring us through the various historical periods of the Bahamas - beginning with the rich geology and wildlife found on the archipelago before the arrival of Christopher Columbus.
We'll discuss tales of hidden treasures and pirates, as well as the topic of slavery and the sugar plantations. Our tour will also cover British colonisation, the history of the British monarchy in the Bahamas and the influence it has had on the country, right up to the present day.
