Novi Sad Private Tour
Our Private Tours
During the booking process, you can choose between two options, which depend on the area of Novi Sad you want to see: the historic center or Petrovaradin Fortress. Both options have a duration of 1.5 hours and include an English-speaking guide, but begin at different starting points and have a different schedule depending on the day you choose.
Historic Center Tour
At the designated time, we'll meet at the square at Novi Sad City Hall to start our private tour through the vibrant streets of the historic center of Novi Sad.
First, we'll admire the Name of Mary Church, considered a masterpiece in Neo-Gothic architecture. This church, which was built in 1892, is the most important Catholic place of worship site in Novi Sad. Its facade, which stands at 236 feet (72 meters) tall, stands out for its narrow clock tower and impressive bell tower.
Afterward, we'll see the Serbian National Theatre, Serbia's oldest theatre, which was founded by important members of the Serbian reading room in 1861, when the nation was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. From here, we'll head to Zmaj Jovina Street, where many cafés, restaurants, bakeries, and traditional stores are found.
We'll continue along the greenest part of the city, Danube Park until we reach the Bishop's Palace and the Museum of Vojvodina. This picture gallery houses a collection of over 400000 pieces of art and a library with more than 50000 volumes. Plus, we'll pass by the Monument to the Victims of the Raid, where you can admire the Petrovaradin Fortress.
Finally, after 1.5 hours, we'll say goodbye at Kralja Aleksandra Bulevar, number 14.
Petrovaradin Fortress Tour
At the designated time, we'll meet at Kej žrtava Racije Street, and from here, we'll walk toward the Petrovaradin Fortress, the most emblematic monument in Novi Sad.
Located at the top of the right bank of the Danube River, this fortress, dating back to the Copper Age, was Europe's largest fortress in the 17th century and the most important from the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the Balkan Peninsula.
During the tour, you'll notice that this fortress is an almost unique example of military architecture from the time, as it's one of the few that has remained almost intact despite suffering damage during both World War I and World War II.
Did you know that, according to legend, this fortress has a secret tunnel beneath the riverbed that connects it to the left bank of the Danube? It was said to have been a passage for the last Austro-Hungarian soldier and his fiancée in 1913. You'll uncover this and many more fascinating facts on this tour!
Finally, after 1.5 hours, we'll conclude the tour at the starting point.
