On this free tour of Oslo, we'll take you on a journey to discover the Norwegian capital's main historical and cultural sites!

Tour Details

At the indicated time, we'll begin our free walking tour of Oslo at the Tiger Sculpture in Jernbanetorget Square, right in the heart of the city. Did you know that Oslo is nicknamed the 'Tiger City'? This striking sculpture, unveiled in 2000, is a fitting symbol of the capital's spirit.

After admiring the sculpture, we'll make our way to Rådhuset, one of Oslo's oldest streets, which dates back to the 1620s. Known for its charming historical architecture, it also has strong links to Oslo City Hall.

Our tour then continues towards the vibrant Aker Brygge district, from where we'll head to the Akershus Castle and Fortress. This medieval stronghold, built in the 13th century, was originally intended to defend the city and serve as a royal residence. Over the centuries, it has been used as a military base and even a prison.

Next, we'll visit Oslo City Hall, the venue for the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. Completed in 1950, this iconic building plays a key role in Norway's civic life. Every 10th of December, it hosts the official award presentation. As we admire the building, we'll uncover the fascinating history behind the prize.

We'll then continue to Oslo Cathedral, a Baroque-style cathedral dating back to 1697. Then, we'll stroll along Karl Johans Gate, Oslo's main street bustling with restaurants, shops and more—be sure to come back for some shopping!

Next up, we'll reach Oslo Opera House, a standout piece of modern architecture completed in 2008. Home to the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, it's renowned for its unique design and publicly accessible rooftop.

As we near the end of our tour, we'll pass the Norwegian Parliament, also known as the Stortinget. Constructed between 1861 and 1866, this building is the heart of Norwegian democracy and a fine example of 19th-century architecture.

After around 2 hours of exploring Oslo's highlights, we'll conclude our tour in front of the Norwegian Parliament building.
