Hiking in Buckskin Gulch Canyon
Description
At the time indicated, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Page and, from here, head west.
After an hour-long drive, we'll arrive at the start of our hike around Buckskin Gulch Canyon. This gorge pass, located on the border between Utah and Arizona, goes through a huge canyon which, due to its high concentration of sandstone, is known for its intense red colour.
This challenging walk will take between 4 and 10 hours to complete, depending on the level of the group. We'll walk a total of between 6 and 16 kilometres (3.5-10 miles). It will be worth all the hard work since we'll explore an enchanting place among narrow sandstone walls.
During the hike, we'll enjoy incredible views of the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument. We'll also admire some unique petroglyphs which were created centuries ago by people who inhabited this area and who used to walk this same route.
We'll make a break halfway through the hike to enjoy a picnic-style lunch including sandwiches and energy bars. Then, we'll continue exploring other areas in Buckskin Gulch Canyon.
Finally, we'll walk back to the start of the walk and, from here, we'll take you back to Page. We'll arrive back at your hotel approximately 11 hours after initial pickup.
