Chewing Gum Tour
Description
At the indicated time we'll pick you up at your hotel in Playa del Carmen and head to the Muyil Community Centre, within the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. There we'll have breakfast before heading to a chewing gum tree farm.
We'll spend approximately 2 hours discovering how they work day by day with the chewing gum trees, also known as chicozapotes. First, we'll talk about the zig-zagging technique, used to extract the sap, which will later be boiled and transformed into one of the most popular sweets of all time. You'll be surprised by how it all works!
We'll hike through gum trees, meet the farmers and return to the minibus to visit two very special lagoons, Muyil and Chunyaxché. In these two natural jewels of Sian Ka'an you'll be able to take a well-deserved dip among nature.
Finally, we'll take you to a restaurant to recharge your batteries with a delicious lunch consisting of a main course and a drink. After 7 hours, we'll say goodbye and drop you back off at your accommodation.
