Day Trip Details

After meeting at the Monument to King Pedro V in Batalha Square, we'll hop in a vehicle, leave Porto behind, and head south on a 2-hour drive.

As we leave the city, the landscape will transform into rolling hills, white villages, and olive groves. Our destination? Fátima, one of the most famous Marian sanctuaries in the world.

As soon as we arrive, we'll spend about 45 minutes exploring the Chapel of the Apparitions, the iconic Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary with its 15 chapels dedicated to the mysteries of the rosary, and the modern Church of the Most Holy Trinity, one of the largest churches in Europe. After that, you'll have 1 hour of free time to explore on your own.

Next, we'll take a short 45-minute drive to Nazaré. Once there, you'll have about 1.5 hours of free time to grab lunch.

After that, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Nazaré awaits — one of Portugal's most iconic devotional sites. We'll learn about the venerated Marian image it houses and the legend of the miracle of Dom Fuas Roupinho, linked to this place since the Middle Ages. We'll also admire the temple's rich decorative details and enjoy the views from the Sítio, the hilltop neighborhood of Nazaré.

After about 1 hour and 15 minutes, we'll set off on a 1-hour and 45-minute drive to the Church of Our Lady of Amparo in Válega, Ovar. There, we'll stop for 30 minutes to admire its facade covered in polychrome tiles. In shades of blue, yellow, and green, the tiles depict biblical scenes like the Annunciation, the Coronation of the Virgin, and the Last Supper.

Finally, we'll say our goodbyes back at the original meeting point in Porto after 11.5 hours.
