Bird Watching in Praia Grande
Bird Watching in Praia Grande
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Praia Grande and, from there, travel to an ecological refuge in the Atlantic Forest.
Once we arrive at the refuge, located at the foot of the Malacara Canyon, we'll set off on a 3-kilometer (1.8-mile) hiking route to try and spot native bird species. During the hike, we'll keep our eyes peeled for birds endemic to the Atlantic Forest, such as Pygmy Hermits, Pauraque Nightjars, or Common Surucuas, hoping to catch a glimpse of these elusive species.
During the tour, we'll provide you with an ornithology book and binoculars to help you distinguish birds more easily. Plus, our knowledgeable guide will provide some gentle guidance to aid you in distinguishing species according to their plumage, type of beak, trill, and other characteristics.
Next up, we'll continue hiking and reach a waterfall located in the middle of the forest. Once we reach the waterfall, we'll take a quick break for anyone interested in taking a refreshing dip. If the weather isn't on our side, it's no worries, as we'll still pause for a moment to take stunning photos of the area.
Finally, we'll return to the meeting point 3 hours later, bringing our tour to an end.
