Valle de Catrinas Day Trip + Mexican Marigold Fields
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Puebla. From there, we'll begin a journey of about 40 minutes to Atlixco, a charming Pueblo Mágico (“Magical Town”) at the feet of the volcano of Popocatépetl. Ready to experience one of the most beautiful traditions of Mexico?
Once at Atlixco, we'll embark on a 3-hour tour along its cobbled streets, where we'll find squares filled with life, colorful facades, and spectacular views of the volcano.
The city transforms into an open-air museum during the season of Day of the Dead, where the town's corners are decorated with large Calavera Catrinas. These figures, symbols of this festivity, combine art, culture, and memory. You'll be amazed!
As we stroll along these monumental sculptures, you'll learn more about their origin and the role they play during the celebration of Day of the Dead. The mix of Indigenous tradition and contemporary artistic expression creates a unique ambience, filled with symbolism and emotion.
After this experience, we'll head to the outskirts of Atlixco, just 15 minutes away by car, to admire one of the most beautiful landscapes of the season: the fields of blooming cempasúchil.
This flower, also known as the Aztec marigold or Mexican marigold, bathes the fields in a lively orange color and represents the connection between the world of the living and the dead. We'll walk among its trails and discover its deep spiritual significance. Did you know it's believed that its aroma guides souls to their altars?
Finally, after about 45 minutes exploring the fields, we'll return to Puebla and drop you off at your hotel after a total of 5.5 to 6 hours.
