Day Trip Details
After picking you up from the selected meeting point, we’ll set off on a journey of approximately 1 hour heading southeast from Puerto Plata. Our destination? The rural community of Yásica Arriba, a peaceful setting where life follows the rhythm of the Sonador River.
As soon as we arrive, we’ll give you a brief introduction where we’ll learn about the history of the Sonador River, the traditions of the community, and the guidelines for enjoying the surroundings respectfully. Once ready, we’ll begin a hike of around 45 minutes along the trails of the Dominican jungle.
We’ll walk through coffee and cacao plantations, fruit trees, and lush vegetation that unfolds in deep shades of green. Among the leaves and glimpses of the sky, it’ll be easy to spot tropical birds, butterflies, and small reptiles basking in the sun near the riverbed.
The route will lead us to the natural pools of the Sonador River, where you’ll have around 1.5 hours to immerse yourselves in these turquoise, crystal-clear waters. The constant murmur of the water, the rocks, and the cool shade will create the perfect setting to swim and relax.
When hunger strikes, we’ll spend 1 hour enjoying a typical lunch consisting of rice, beans, stewed meat, and salad with soft drinks and water. It'll be delicious!
With a light spirit and satisfied stomach, we’ll begin the hike back to the vehicle. From there, we’ll return to the starting point, where we’ll say our goodbyes after between 6.5-7 hours of the tour.
