Punta Arenas Free Walking Tour
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Plaza de Armas Muñoz Gamero to start our free tour of Punta Arenas. Let's explore this southern city that overlooks the Strait of Magellan!
From our central meeting point, we'll stop in front of the Magellan Monument, a sculpture that honors the feat of the first expedition that managed to circumnavigate the world. Perhaps, like many travelers, you'll also lean down to kiss the foot of the Patagonian native at the base of the statue, a tradition that ensures a successful return to Punta Arenas.
Then, on the promenade, we'll admire the landscape of the Strait of Magellan and discover the murals and monuments that fill this area. As we go along, we'll tell you the stories of the native peoples of Chilean Patagonia, as well as of the European navigators and settlers who later arrived in this fascinating southern city.
We'll also enter the financial and gastronomic heart of the town, walking along the avenues that will take us to the palaces of Sara Braun and José Menéndez. What was their contribution to Punta Arenas? We'll learn all about it as we contemplate the facades of these buildings that will transport us to the golden age that defined the destiny of the region.
Finally, we'll return to the initial meeting point, arriving 2.5 hours later.
