Snaefellsnes Day Trip
Activity Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your selected meeting point in Reykjavik and set off on a journey through the interior of Iceland. Before you know it, we'll arrive at Kirkjufell, one of the most photographed mountains in Iceland. This is the Arrowhead in Game of Thrones!
From here, we'll head to the Snæfellsjökull glacier, located on a spectacular active stratovolcano. Did you know that the summit is covered in sparkling perpetual snow that is visible from the bay of the Icelandic capital?
Then, we'll make our way towards the Berserkjahraun Lava Fields, mentioned by Jules Verne in his novel Journey to the Center of the Earth. We'll see numerous lunar landscapes, waterfalls, lakes, and rivers. We'll also observe rocky coastlines and small fishing villages, where you can still breathe in the maritime atmosphere of yesteryear.
We'll continue the excursion at the famous black sand beach of Djúpalónssandur. Do you know the story of the shipwreck that occurred here in 1948? We'll find out!
The route will continue towards the Arnarstapi coast and the black church of Buðarkirkja, where we'll take note of its simple yet striking architecture amid the impressive surrounding landscape.
We'll continue along the road to Ytri Tunga Beach. At the beach, we'll see a colony of seals (especially visible in the summer months) and at the farm, we'll enjoy a traditional meal. If you prefer, you can bring your own food.
Finally, we'll begin our return to the starting point, where we'll arrive approximately 11 or 12 hours after the start of the activity.
