Tijuca National Park Cave & Waterfall Hike
Activity Details
We'll pick you up from one of the selected hotels in Rio de Janeiro at the indicated time and drive to Tijuca National Park, the largest urban rainforest in the world. It covers 32000 hectares (79074 acres)! Before arriving, we'll stop at the Vista Chinesa viewpoint, from where you'll have a breathtaking view of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
As soon as we arrive at the entrance of the park, we'll start the hiking route that will take us along the Cave Trail, one of the most special trails in the area. We'll walk along the trail, which is of low difficulty, and reach the Tunay waterfall, the first stop on the walking route. Did you know this waterfall cascades from a height of 35 meters (115 feet)?
We'll marvel at this natural wonder and then head to the Tijuca National Park Visitor Centre, the perfect place to learn all about the history and wildlife of the region.
Next, we'll walk for 20 minutes to one of the most incredible points of the trail: the Almas waterfall, where you can swim in its waters! After this relaxing experience, we'll go back to the Cave Trail and visit four amazing caves, such as the Bat Cave. Depending on the season, instead of this waterfall, we may visit Diamantina Waterfall.
Finally, we’ll conclude our hiking route, covering between 2 and 4.5 kilometers (1.2 and 2.8 miles) in total, by heading to Baronesa Waterfall, where you can take another refreshing dip. We’ll walk back to meet the minibus, which will take us to Vista China, a viewpoint in Tijuca offering beautiful views of Sugarloaf Mountain, Christ the Redeemer, and the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema.
We’ll end this 5-hour tour by returning to your hotel.
