Saint George + Grand Etang National Park Day Trip
Tour Details
At the appointed time, we'll pick you up at the port of Saint George or your hotel and, once ready, we'll head to the first destination of the day: the Spice Market of Saint George. Can you think of a better place to immerse yourself in its culture? This corner of the Caribbean is known as “the island of spices”.
We'll enter the bustling market, where the aromas of nutmeg, cinnamon, and turmeric will envelop us in the essence of Grenada. Did you know that nutmeg is so important to the island that it appears on its flag? Here, we'll also discover the colorful local handicrafts and fruits produced in the territory.
Afterward, we'll go up to Fort Frederick, with its peculiar design facing backwards, strategically designed for attacks within the interior of the island. From its walls, we'll contemplate the beautiful panoramic views of the city of Saint George, the port and the Caribbean Sea. As we walk through its passages, we'll tell you fun facts about the battles and defensive measures that marked Grenada's past.
Next stop? The Tri-Island chocolate factory, where we'll witness the artisanal process of transforming cocoa into exquisite chocolate bars. Grenada, although small, is one of the largest producers of high-quality cocoa in the world, and we'll taste this delicacy at one of the best factories on the island!
Afterward, we'll travel to the nearby Grand Etang National Park. There, for half an hour, we'll explore its lush rainforest until we reach the Grand Etang Lake, a volcanic crater full of serenity. With a bit of luck, we may encounter Cercopithecus mona, monkeys that are rumored to have crossed the Atlantic with the first settlers from West Africa. Watch out for the treetops!
Finally, we'll return to the road to go in search of Annandale Falls. We'll spend a little more than half an hour relaxing and listening to the sound of the water or, if we are more adventurous, to cool off in its natural pool. We are sure to be inspired by the local divers, who often dive from the top of the surrounding rocks.
Finally, we'll return to Saint George and say goodbye, leaving you at your hotel, 4 hours after pickup.
