Day Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Santa Cruz Island and drive to one of the most beautiful islands of the Galapagos. Welcome to El Garrapatero!
After 40 minutes on the road, we'll reach our destination. This beach boasts almost 2 miles (3 kilometres) of beautiful golden sand, which is perfect for sunbathing and relaxing as you listen to the sound of the waves. You'll also spot some sea lions and blue-footed boobies at this beach as your guide tells you lots of fun facts about them.
We'll follow a path through the mangroves that'll take us to a brackish pool. Here, we'll see large flamingos foraging for crustaceans. They're also likely to be accompanied by other wading birds such as herons, stilts and oystercatchers.
Next, we'll take a break and have a light lunch that'll consist of a sandwich, fruit and a soft drink. Once you've had lunch, we'll continue walking along the shore and learning about the local area's flora, fauna and history. We'll discuss the meaning behind the name of this spot ("tick" in Spanish), which relates to the elimination of this insect.
Finally, we'll take you back to your hotel and say our goodbyes after a total of 5 hours.
