Ciénaga Day Trip
Ciénaga Day Trip
At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Santa Marta and set off on a 40-minute drive to Ciénaga. During the journey, we'll have a fruit snack to keep our energy levels up.
When we get to Ciénaga, which was the inspiration for Gabriel García Márquez's novel One Hundred Years of Solitude, we'll begin exploring its history. We'll stroll through the historic streets and discuss this town's beginnings and the economic boom it experienced in the early 20th century due to the growing banana industry.
During our day trip to Ciénaga, we'll also visit the pavilion, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and numerous other monuments that'll take us on a journey through García Márquez's most famous literary work.
We'll then head to the Cordobita region to visit the incredible volcano of Ciénaga. You'll be able to take a dip in its hot springs, discover its healing properties and have a therapeutic mud massage.
Afterwards, we'll return to the minibus and head back to Santa Marta, where we'll arrive at 2 pm.
