El Sardinero & La Magdalena Free Walking Tour
Tour Details
We'll meet at the designated time at the Casa de los Guardeses, in the peninsula of La Magdalena. Are you ready to discover one of the most beautiful areas in the Cantabrian capital? Let's go!
The first stop on our free walking tour will be the majestic Palacio de La Magdalena, built at the beginning of the 20th century. We'll walk around the exterior of the palace to admire its elegant architecture and its magnificent views of the sea.
We'll continue exploring the rest of the peninsula, where you'll discover the Caballerizas Reales and the Parque Marino, built on the rock of a cliff, where you can see seals, penguins, and sea lions. We'll also visit the open-air exhibition El Hombre y el Mar (The Man and the Sea), where you'll learn about the fascinating transoceanic expeditions by Vital Alsar.
From here, we'll head toward the area of El Sardinero, the former spa area that dates back to the mid-19th century. Amid golden sands and the roar of the Cantabrian Sea, you can admire the elegance of the Gran Casino and the Gran Hotel Sardinero, symbols of the Belle Époque.
Finally, we'll head to the Jardines de Piquío, a natural viewpoint where you can enjoy the stunning views of the coast that separates the first beach from the second beach. What does this mean? You'll soon find out!
After 2 hours, we'll finish our free walking tour of Santander in the surroundings of these gardens.
