Multi Day Cuyabeno River Tour
3-Day Tour
Day 1
At the time indicated, we'll meet at Puente Cuyabeno to board the canoes that will take us to Dolphin Lodge, the accommodation where we'll enjoy this adventure.
During the journey down the river Cuyabeno, if the weather allows, we'll spot up to 10 types of primates, including the western pygmy marmoset, which is 10 cm (3.9 inches) tall. This is its favourite habitat!
Upon arriving at our accommodation, we'll serve a traditional Ecuadorian lunch and give you 3 hours free to start exploring our surroundings.
Then, we'll take you around Laguna Grande, an ideal spot to see the country's endemic flora and fauna. In addition, we'll enjoy a dreamy sunset.
Finally, we'll return to the lodge for dinner and to relax.
Day 2
After a delicious breakfast at our accommodation, we'll go on a hike around the natural reserve. We'll tell you all about the animals and medicinal plants that we come across along the way.
After 3 hours, we'll return to the hotel for lunch and give you around 4 hours of free time. We recommend taking a refreshing dip in the river.
We'll meet up again to go on a canoe ride in search of animals, such as sloths, parrots, caymans and pink dolphins. Additionally, we'll go on another 45 minutes to 1-hour hike once the sun has set to spot nocturnal animals.
At the end of the day, we'll have dinner and relax in the hotel.
Day 3
On the third day, we'll go bird spotting bright and early since it's the best time to see them. It will be worth the early morning!
After breakfast, we'll take you in the canoe back to the initial meeting point where we'll say our goodbyes.
4-Day Tour
If 3 days doesn't sound like enough, we recommend booking the 4-day tour of the Cuyabeno River. With this option, the first 2 days will be the same as above and, on the third day, after breakfast, we'll head into the jungle to an area where a local community lives.
Here, the locals will show us how to make casabe, a traditional dish. We'll learn the whole process, from the harvesting of the yuca to the preparation of the log fire. We'll also enjoy lunch here.
Once we've eaten, we'll meet the community's shaman, who will talk to us about ancestral medicine and give us a demonstration of how ayahuasca is prepared. Then, we'll return to the hotel for dinner.
The next day, we'll have breakfast and return to the meeting point.
5-Day Tour
If you want an even fuller experience, you can opt for a 5-day tour. The first 3 days are the same as in the 4-day tour. However, on the 4th day, after breakfast, we'll head to a place called Canangueno to go rowing.
After this fun rowing activity down the river, we'll take you to the hotel to have lunch and relax. We'll meet up again 4 hours later to take you to see the sunset at Laguna Grande. How wonderful!
Finally, on the 5th day, we'll have breakfast and travel back to the starting point. See you again soon!
