Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Keio Plaza Hotel, in the heart of Shinjuku. From there, we'll begin our journey through the world of Studio Ghibli, visiting different places in Tokyo that served as inspiration for their films.
Our first stop will be at the Hotel Gajoen Tokyo, a majestic traditional Japanese-style building that is said to have inspired the design of the spa in Spirited Away. Here, we'll enjoy a buffet lunch in its luxurious dining rooms.
After eating, we'll head to the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, which is about an hour away. This fascinating space features traditional buildings reminiscent of many of the settings used in Ghibli films. Does the main street in Spirited Away ring a bell? You're sure to recognise it among these old houses and shops! We'll spend approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes strolling through this open-air museum.
To end the day on a high note, we'll visit the Ghibli Museum, a must-see in Tokyo for any fan of the studio. Here, you'll have 2.5 hours to explore the rooms on your own, admire original sketches, understand the animation processes, and watch an exclusive short film screened only in this space.
After this last stop, we'll meet again to head back to the Shinjuku station area. There, we'll say goodbye after between 8 and 8 hours and 45 minutes in total.
Partial Closures
On occasion, the Edo-Tokyo Open-Air Architectural Museum may be closed for reasons beyond the organisation's control. Should this occur, we'll visit Jindai-ji Temple or Takahata Fudoson Temple instead.
Children Under 4
Although children under 4 years old can participate in the tour free of charge, they must remain seated on an adult's lap, as they will not have their own seat on the bus. In addition, meals are not included for them.
