Itinerary

At the scheduled time, you'll be collected from your hotel in Tulum and brought to Chococacao Maya. Located just 2km (1.24 miles) from the Coba archaeological dig site, this location offers a complete tour of cacao culture and Mexican honey.

After arriving, you'll be blessed by a shaman who will explain to you every part of Chococacao Maya. After, you'll take a tour of the exhibition where you'll discover all about the history of the land used in years past as an area for relaxation and purification. Moreover, here you'll be able to see an original sacbe, meaning 'white road'. This road is the vestiges of an old road or walkway used to connect this community with Chichen Itza.

Continuing on, you'll take part in a cacao workshop. Over 20 minutes you'll learn about the legendary culinary practices of the Mayans and combine different flavours to create and try the most exotic chocolate. You'll also delve into the history of cacao, a product that was also used as a type of currency in the olden days.

After this, you'll visit the honey sanctuary to learn about the stingless bee and take part in a workshop where you'll learn how to make soap out of natural honey.

After 20 minutes, you'll be brought to a restaurant, where you'll eat a delicious local dish that combines the perfect taste of chocolate and honey with chicken thighs. This dish will also be accompanied by a side dish of white rice.

With a renewed energy after lunch, you'll make your way to the Kaab Ha cenote (natural well), a naturally formed space perfect for relaxing your body and mind in the middle of the jungle.

After 3.5 hours of touring around, the tour of Chococacao Maya and its cenote will come to an end. You'll be brought back to your accommodation, arriving around 3.5 hours after you initially departed.
