Tunisia 8-Day Tour
Tour Details
Day 1: Tunis - Hammamet
When you land, we'll be waiting for you at the arrivals terminal of Tunis-Carthage International Airport to take you to the hotel in Hammamet so that you can leave your luggage. You'll have the rest of the day to yourself to settle in and rest before starting your day trip the next day.
Day 2: Hammamet - Kairouan- Tozeur
After breakfast at the hotel, we'll leave the town behind and head to Kairouan, one of the oldest cities in Tunisia. We'll take a guided tour of its historic centre, admiring its mosques and discovering why this land is so important in Islam.
We'll have lunch in a restaurant in Gafsa and finally arrive in Tozeur. Here, we'll stroll through its Medina, a perfect example of the traditional architecture of the 16th century, and end the day having dinner and resting at the hotel.
Day 3: Tozeur - Chebika - Midès - Tozeur
On the third day of this tour of Tunisia, we’ll wake up at our hotel in Tozeur and, after breakfast, set off in an off-roading vehicle to explore the stunning natural landscapes surrounding the city. We’ll cross the salt lake of El Gharsa before reaching the oasis of Chebika, where we’ll stroll among palm groves and waterfalls and visit the old town built in this area. Did you know it was founded by the Romans?
After a short break, we’ll continue along a mountain road to the impressive Tamerza waterfall, a breathtaking natural wonder. Then, we’ll head into the Mides Canyon, which plunges more than 30 meters deep. This remarkable formation, carved by seasonal rains, has even been featured in films, including the iconic Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark.
We’ll return to Tozeur for lunch, and in the afternoon, you’ll have free time to explore the area at your own pace. Dinner will also be included at the hotel.
Day 4: Tozeur - Chott El Djerid - Douz - Ksar Ghilane
Once again, we'll have breakfast at the hotel in Tozeur and spend the day travelling through landscapes that are as arid as they are spectacular. We'll take pictures of the Chott El Djerid, another of the salt lakes that stretch across North Africa, and arrive in the town of Douz, known as the Gateway to the Desert.
We'll visit the Douz market, have lunch in the area and, in the afternoon, make our way to the dunes of Ksar Ghilane. As night falls, we'll experience a magical evening dining and camping in the desert. You'll never forget it!
Day 5: Ksar Ghilane - Matmata - Sfax
We’ll start the day with breakfast at the Ksar Ghilane camp before boarding the minibus to set off along the Ksour route, where you’ll see the ancient fortified granaries that rise like castles in the middle of the desert.
After the visit, we’ll continue on to Matmata. If you’re a Star Wars fan, you’ll be thrilled to know this was one of the filming locations for the saga. We’ll explore its famous troglodyte houses and reveal how the Berbers carved these unique dwellings into the rock.
We’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant and, in the afternoon, arrive in Sfax. There, we’ll dive into the city’s origins as we stroll through its historic center, admiring the austere walls and the impressive 9th-century Great Mosque. As a fun fact, this coastal city is one of Tunisia’s top olive oil producers.
Then, we'll have dinner and stay overnight in Sfax.
Day 6: Sfax - El Djem - Sousse- Hammamet
After breakfast at the hotel, we'll go straight to El Djem, a town famous for its ruins from the Ancient Roman Empire. Its amphitheatre, built in 238, is a World Heritage Site.
Following that, we'll pay a visit to Medina of Sousse, also protected by Unesco. It's a perfect example of the cities built in the first centuries of Islam. We'll visit its souks and ribat, a fortification that played a fundamental role in the defence of the city.
We'll then have lunch in a restaurant and finally arrive in Hammamet, where we'll have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 7: Hammamet - Sidi Bou Said - Tunis
We’ll start the day with breakfast before heading to Carthage to explore its most important archaeological sites. As we stroll through the complex, we’ll see a variety of Roman structures, including the only surviving Roman baths in Africa.
Not far from Carthage lies the charming village of Sidi Bou Said, famous for its whitewashed houses with blue doors and windows. You won’t be able to stop taking photos!
We’ll then enjoy lunch at a restaurant in La Goulette before making our way to downtown Tunis in the afternoon. You’ll have free time to wander the medina, browse the traditional craft stalls, and soak up the local atmosphere.
At the end of the day, we’ll return to the hotel in Tunis for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Day 8: Tunis
On the last day, you'll also get breakfast at the hotel. Finally, when the time comes, we'll take you to Tunis-Carthage airport in time for your flight back home. Until next time!
