Antarctica 10-Day Cruise
Trip Itinerary
Day 1
At the indicated time, we will meet at the Commercial Port of Ushuaia, where check-in will begin. You will board the Ushuaia, where the staff will welcome you for this Antarctica cruise.
After settling into your cabin, we will begin navigating through the Beagle Channel via the Mackinlay Passage, saying farewell to Tierra del Fuego.
Days 2 and 3
On the second and third day of sailing, we will cross the Drake Passage, named in honor of Sir Francis Drake, who sailed these waters in 1578.
The Drake Passage is a natural biological barrier where cold polar waters plunge beneath warmer northern waters, creating nutrient-rich conditions that support regional biodiversity. It also marks the northern limit of many Antarctic seabirds. Your guide will help identify birds from the deck, including albatross following the ship.
During these days, you will learn about navigation, observe whales and enjoy the unfolding landscape. On the 3rd day, the first icebergs and snowy mountains will signal arrival at the South Shetland Islands, discovered in 1819 by Captain William Smith. If conditions allow, we will make a first landing to observe penguins and seals.
Days 4, 5, 6 and 7
We will explore the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands. These islands are filled with wildlife observable from the ship. We will navigate through the narrow passage to the flooded caldera of Deception Island.
We will pass King George Island, known for colonies of gentoo and chinstrap penguins, kelp gulls, imperial cormorants, Antarctic terns and southern giant petrels. On Livingston Island we will see chinstrap and gentoo penguins along with elephant seals.
From the ship, we may spot crabeater, Weddell and leopard seals, as well as humpback and orca whales. The ship will pass through scenic channels such as Gerlache Strait, Neumayer Channel and Lemaire Channel.
Each day includes 2 landings at safe locations chosen by the captain, always accompanied by the guide and crew. Potential sites include Paradise Bay, Adélie penguin colonies, Paulet Island, Melchior Islands, Cuverville Island, Portal Point, Neko Harbour, Pléneau Island and Petermann Island.
Days 8 and 9
We will leave the Antarctic Peninsula and head north, crossing the Drake Passage again. The crew will offer deck talks led by naturalist experts about seabirds and whales.
However, during both days you can take advantage of the time to enjoy the views at your own pace, take your own souvenir photos and relax on board on the way back to Ushuaia.
Day 10
On the last day, arrival at the port of Ushuaia is expected around 7 am. However, disembarkation will begin after breakfast, between 8 am and 8:30 am. See you next time!
Itinerary Changes
Keep in mind that if departing from February 25 to March 7, 2026, the cruise includes an additional day of exploration on the Antarctic Peninsula and South Shetland Islands.

Frequently asked questions
-
Q - What documents do I need?
A - Foreign non-resident visitors entering Argentina as tourists can stay up to 3 months in the country and must show a valid passport. Most passports must be valid at least for the planned stay (preferably 3 months beyond the duration of the stay). A visa is not required for stays up to 3 months in Argentina if you are a European or US citizen. If you are not European or American, other documents or permits may be required in addition to a valid passport, which must be checked on the Government of Argentina’s website. Additionally, we recommend checking with the relevant consulate in case a visa or other special permit is required to enter the country. It is the full responsibility of the passenger to ensure all required documents are complete and valid (http://www.migraciones.gov.ar/accesible/indexdnm.php?visas ). If you are a Japanese national or reside in Japan, you must send a notification to the Ministry of the Environment at: https://iaato.org/visiting-antarctica/preparing-for-your-expedition/information-for-japanese-nationals.

Although it can be sunny, expect rain, snow, fog and strong winds that lower the perceived temperature. The captain and expedition team may change the itinerary due to local conditions or unforeseen reasons, such as wildlife sightings, favorable sea conditions or other local events, in order to offer the best possible alternative.
-
Q - Is there wifi on board the cruise?
A - Yes, but it is not included in the price and you must purchase the internet plan of your choice on site.
-
Q - What is the electrical current on board?
A - The electrical current on board is 110V/60Hz and the outlets in the cabins are multi-standard. These outlets accept several types of international plugs. -
Q - How physically fit do I need to be for this activity?
A - You are required to be in good general health and physically capable of carrying out normal activities on board and on land, which may require moderate effort and a high degree of self-sufficiency. Note that you will also need to go up and down the steep gangway to board the zodiacs and use the stairs between decks on board. After booking, you will be asked to complete a medical form. This information is essential and will be kept strictly confidential.
-

A - The ship has a well-equipped infirmary and a fully qualified doctor. However, since this expedition takes you far from the nearest hospital or fully equipped medical facility, we advise all passengers to have appropriate medical insurance.
-

A - The Ushuaia fully complies with SOLAS requirements (International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea), the regulations established by the IMO (International Maritime Organization) and the provisions of the ISM Code (International Safety Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships). Included in the Code are annual flag state inspections, internal and external safety and environmental audits, and annual classification society inspections. The ship carries a valid Safety Management Certificate and a Passenger Ship Safety Certificate. The officers and crew are well trained and regularly practice emergency procedures to ensure your comfort and safety. Within 24 hours after boarding, there will be an emergency drill in which all guests must participate. Through this exercise, you will become familiar with the procedures to follow in the unlikely event of an emergency.
