Trekking Details

Day 1

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Ushuaia to head towards Calle Belgrano. There, once we're all together, we'll have an introductory chat about safety measures and check all of the trekking equipment you've brought with you.

Next, we'll get into the vehicle to head towards a strategic point of the National Route 3, where we'll find the beginning of the classic trail that will lead us to the Laguna Esmeralda. After a 5-kilometre (3.1-mile) section crossing the forest of native trees, such as southern beeches, lenga beeches and antarctic beeches, we'll reach the mountain hut.

Upon arrival, we'll enjoy a hearty dinner made up of ham, salami, olives, cheeses and pickled aubergines, all followed by a lamb casserole with wine, infusions and a chocolate dessert—we deserve it!

Afterwards, we'll prepare our sleeping bags in the hut. Until tomorrow!

Day 2

The day will start with a delicious breakfast of eggs, toast, ham, cheese and fruit. Feeling energised, we'll get ready to begin the second stretch of trekking towards the Ojo del Albino Glacier.

We'll walk along a trail with several slopes for about 6 kilometres (3.7 miles). Then, we'll stop to enjoy lunch, including soup and a ham and cheese sandwich. Afterwards, we'll get back on our way, and, as the landscape becomes wider and wider, we'll know that we're about to get to the glacier.

Once at our destination, we'll toast to celebrate our achievement at the summit and have time to enjoy this overwhelming landscape of Tierra del Fuego. The photos will be postcard-worthy! During the summer, we'll put on crampons and enjoy a climb up the glacier, a unique experience!

Finally, we'll start our way back and, during this stretch, we'll visit the Dome for a hot drink. Then, we'll get ready for the last 11 kilometres (6.8 miles) or so to the National Route 3.

Lastly, we'll board the vehicle for the return journey to your hotel in Ushuaia. Arrival is scheduled around 6 pm.
