On this shore excursion, we'll take the End of the World Train and visit the Tierra del Fuego National Park, two must-sees in Ushuaia!

Tour Details

After picking you up at the port of Ushuaia upon arrival of your cruise ship, we'll board the vehicle that will take us along National Route 3 for about 20 minutes. The first destination will be the End of the World Train station, the southernmost railroad on the planet. Let the adventure begin!

There, we'll leave you free time to embark on a 1-hour trip along 4.3 mi (7 km). From the window we'll see how the Fuegian forests, the landscapes of the Pipo River and the slopes of Mount Susana open up. We'll also learn about the Yámanas, the original people who inhabited this inhospitable land.

At the end of the train ride, we'll return to the vehicle and head for the Tierra del Fuego National Park, but not before making a brief stop at the Macarena waterfalls.

Once inside the park, we'll cross the sub-Antarctic areas covered by forests of more than 63,000 hectares (155,676 acres). We'll smell the aroma of the ñires and lengas, and discover the characteristic silver moss of the region that the locals call Barba de Indio (Indian Beard). Plus, we'll see the picturesque Farolitos Chinos, orange-colored mushrooms that look like something out of a fantasy.

Our first stop in Tierra del Fuego will be at Lapataia Bay, where we'll find the iconic End of the World sign. We'll take an iconic photo and set out to walk along trails that surround the Patagonian fjords. We'll learn that this is the end of the Panamerican Highway, which begins in Alaska and travels more than 10,563 mi (17,000 km) to reach this point.

Then, we'll continue on to Laguna Verde and observe the Cóndor hill, which marks the natural border with Chile. A little further on, Lake Roca, or Lake Acigami in the Yámana language, awaits us. We'll tell you about its glacial origin while we relax and contemplate the scenery.

The last stop will be at Ensenada Zaratiegui Bay, where we'll see the famous End of the World Post Office from the outside. From the shore, we'll be able to admire Redonda Island and, if we're lucky, we may see sea lions in the distance.

Finally, we'll return to the port of Ushuaia, where we'll say goodbye after a 5-hour excursion.
