Valparaíso Guided Walking Tour + Trolleybus Ride
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the famous mural "We Are Not Hippies, We Are Happies" in Cerro Alegre. This will be the perfect starting point to begin our guided tour of Valparaíso, a port city filled with charm, culture, and color.
We'll kick off our tour by heading to the upper part of Cerro Alegre, one of the most picturesque neighborhoods of the city. Its European-style houses, cobblestone streets, and vibrant murals will tell us about the city's golden era, when Valparaíso was the entrance gate to the Pacific Ocean for vendors around the world. It'll be a tour full of history and surprises!
Leaving Cerro Alegre behind, we'll walk along the Avenida Alemania, a practically flat street that connects various neighborhoods to the city. From here, we'll enjoy the impressive views of the bay and the unique architecture that characterizes this area. Plus, we'll make a special stop in the former prison, which is now the Valparaíso Cultural Park.
Then, we'll descend to the Plaza Aníbal Pinto, in the commercial center of Valparaíso. Here, we'll board a historic trolleybus, a traditional means of transport that still drives around the city's streets. After about 10 minutes, we'll reach Avenida Argentina, where we'll discover one of the most authentic and surprising neighborhoods of the city.
Cerro Barón will greet us with its murals, walkways, and stairs, a true open-air museum. Today, this residential neighborhood has become a landmark for street art in Latin America. We'll tell you how this movement began and what messages hide behind the artworks that decorate every corner. Don't forget to take pictures!
Finally, after 3 hours of touring Valparaíso, we'll say our goodbyes at Avenida Argentina, at the exit of Cerro Barón. If you need it, the guide can accompany you to the Cerro Alegro or help you take transport to another destination.
