We'll pick you up at your hotel in Verin at the time you choose to cross the border with Portugal and head for Tresminas, a mining complex located in the municipality of Vila Pouca de Aguiar. Are your torches ready?
We'll enter the caves of the Tresminas Archaeological Park, the largest Roman gold deposit in the empire discovered during the reign of Emperor Augustus. These mines were exploited until the 3rd century and were of great importance for the monetary reform promoted by Augustus. The park consists of a system of tunnels used for filtering and transporting this precious mineral. During the visit, we'll go through these galleries while we get to know the past of the mining complex.
Afterwards, we'll return to the present visiting the Interpretation Centre of Tresminas and getting to know the heritage value of these caves, which have become a real tourist attraction.
Then we'll go to Pedras Salgadas Park. This is a natural space of 40 hectares known for its thermal waters and its curious ecological houses designed in a futuristic style, which are part of the Pedras Salgadas hotel complex.
We'll walk around this peculiar enclave and after four hours of tour, we'll take you back to Verín.
