Trans-Siberian Railway: Vladivostok to Moscow
Day 1: Vladivostok
Welcome to Eastern Russia! After your flight to Vladivostok, we'll pick you up at the airport and take you to a centrally located hotel. You'll have the rest of the day free to rest and explore the city at your leisure.
Day 2: Vladivostok
After breakfast at your hotel, we'll pick you up for a tour of Vladivostok. We'll visit the great Fortress Museum as well as the Catholic church and the Church of the Intercession. The tour will continue to Korabelnaya Naberezhnaya Pier, where we'll learn about the history of the famous Soviet submarine C-56.
You will have the afternoon free and, later in the afternoon, you will be transferred to Vladivostok Railway Station to start your journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway.
Days 3 & 4: Vladivostok - Irkutsk
You will travel through the Russian hinterland aboard the Trans-Siberian Railway, which passes through the vast steppe landscapes along the Russian-Chinese border.
Day 5: Irkutsk - Listvyanka
We'll meet you at Irkutsk station, from which we'll drive to a hotel in Listvyanka. In this beautiful town, located on the shores of Lake Baikal, you'll have the rest of the day free to visit the Church of St. Nicholas or take a boat ride.
Day 6: Listvyanka
On the seventh day of the trip, you'll have the day free in Listvyanka. We recommend visiting the Baikal Museum to learn about the world's deepest lake and trying the rich local cuisine of this region of Russia.
Day 7: Listvyanka - Irkutsk
In the morning after breakfast, we'll depart from your hotel in Listvyanka to the Taltsy Museum of Wooden Architecture, where we'll get acquainted with the typical constructions of the Buryat culture. The day will continue with a panoramic tour of Irkutsk, considered the "Paris of Siberia."
After having the afternoon free in the city, the day will conclude with a transfer to Irkutsk station, where you'll then continue your journey by Trans-Siberian Railway to Yekaterinburg.
Days 8 & 9: Irkutsk - Yekaterinburg
On this two-day journey on board the Trans-Siberian Railway, you will cross the Siberian steppe. You can take advantage of this trip to rest and enjoy Russian cuisine in the train's restaurant car.
The journey ends at Yekaterinburg station. There, we'll pick you up and transfer you to a comfortable city hotel, where you'll have the rest of the day to spend at your leisure.
Day 10: Yekaterinburg
After breakfast, we'll pick you up at your hotel and embark on a tour of Yekaterinburg. After a first stop at the Church of All Saints, we'll go to Ganina Yama, where the remains of Tsar Nicholas II and his family were hidden.
The route will continue to the monolith marking the border between Asia and Europe. From there we'll return to the center of Yekaterinburg where you will have the rest of the day free.
Day 11: Yekaterinburg - Moscow
Early in the morning, we'll take you to Yekaterinburg station, as your Trans-Siberian train departs at 9:19 am. A day later, at 9:23 am, you will arrive in Moscow.
Day 12: Moscow
Welcome to the capital of Russia! From the station, we'll go to the city center for a walking tour of Moscow.
During the tour, we'll pass by the KGB Headquarters and the Bolshoi Theatre. We'll also head to the Red Square to visit the GUM Shopping Gallery and admire St. Basil's Cathedral, Kazan Cathedral and Lenin's Mausoleum. You will have the rest of the afternoon free to spend at leisure.
Day 13: Moscow
In the morning, we'll go on a guided tour of the Kremlin. There, we'll visit the four cathedrals and the Armory Museum, which in addition to military instruments also houses the famous collection of Fabergé eggs.
After visiting the Kremlin, we'll take a tour of the Moscow Metro, also known as "the people's palace," to visit its most luxurious and spectacular stations. The rest of the day will be free for shopping and enjoying Moscow's gastronomy.
Day 14: Moscow
Plenty of time in advance, we'll pick you up at the hotel to take you to the Moscow airport for your return flight.
Accommodation
The tour includes 7 nights' accommodation with breakfast in the following hotels:
- Vladivostok (1 night): Hotel Azimut (4 stars)
- Listvyanka (2 nights): Listvyanka Mayak (4 stars)
- Yekaterinburg (2 nights): Novotel Yekaterinburg Center (4 stars)
- Moscow (2 nights): Moscow Ibis Bakhrushina Center (3 stars)
The nights that you do not sleep in the above hotels will be spent traveling by night train. In this means of transport, you'll have a 4-person compartment with two bunk beds. In addition, each train carriage has two toilets and hot water for making tea, and you will be provided with clean bed linens and cups.
When booking, you'll only have to indicate the type of room you prefer in the hotels, as in the trains you will always travel in 4-person compartments.
If you don't want to share the train compartment with other people, you can pay a supplement. To do so, please indicate this in the comments when booking and we'll send you the request to pay the supplement.
Guide in the cities
The guide service is only included in the cities, while on the train you will travel on your own, enjoying the tour at your own pace.
