Volgograd Guided Tour
Volgograd Guided Tour
At 10 am on the dot, we'll meet you in Lenin Square to start our guided tour of Volgograd, or the "City of the Volga".
This Russian city, which sits on Europe's longest river, was the scene of many bloody battles in the Second World War. As we stroll through the old town, we'll review Volgograd's recent history, talk about its key role in the victories of the USSR and recall its former name: Stalingrad.
During our tour, we'll pass by many of the city's most symbolic monuments. These include the Pavlov House, the Planetarium, the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the Orthodox Cathedral. This majestic golden-domed temple is situated at the top of the Mamayev Kurgan Hill, where the monumental complex of The Motherland Calls is also located.
As we stroll past the Central Railway Station, we'll talk about Volgograd's present-day importance as a railway hub and industrial centre, as it is also home to one of Russia's main river ports.
After seeing the city's main sights, we'll finish our guided tour of Volgograd at 12 noon.
