Volgograd Night Tour
Volgograd Night Tour
At 10 pm, when night has fallen over the city, we'll meet in Volgograd's central Lenin Square. From here, we'll start our night tour around the main monuments of the "City of the Volga" lit up at night.
First of all, we'll stop in front of Pavlov's House, a former apartment building that commemorates a key battle fought in World War II. After learning about the history behind this building, we'll walk to the famous Barmaley Fountain, located next to the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.
We'll continue our evening tour with a stroll along the Volga River, where we'll see the large, illuminated marble arch. Afterwards, we'll head to the Motherland memorial complex to learn more about the importance of the Battle of Stalingrad during the Second World War.
As we stroll through the memorial, you'll stop at the numerous lit up sculptures erected in honour of the soldiers who fought against the Nazis. The sculpture that'll undoubtedly catch your eye is 'The Motherland Calls', a 280-foot (85-metre) high woman warrior crowning Mamayev Kurgan where the battle was fought. After this battle, one of the bloodiest battles fought in the history of warfare, only 10% of the former city of Stalingrad was still standing.
After an enjoyable night spent walking through Volgograd, we'll say our goodbyes at midnight.
